Kay Burley looks unrecognisable in unearthed pics from first day at Sky News
Fans advised the star to bring back her look as it will 'become the hottest thing', and 'go viral immediately'.
Sky News presenter Kay Burley has posted a throwback picture of her and eight other colleagues on their first day on the job when the broadcaster first hit the TV airwaves.
Fans dubbed the star ‘the nation’s hero’ and commented that the 35-year-old snap ‘brought a lump to their throats.’
Kay posted the black-and-white picture, in which she can be seen donning her signature front-fridge hairstyle, on her Instagram page to her 47.7K followers.
Standing alongside seven suited and booted men and one other woman towards the back, Kay, who was at the front right of the snap, beamed away in her chic white suit with black stripes.
A plain white shirt and black tie accompanied the stylish suit.
The Sky News presenter captioned the picture: “That time of year when I dust off this photo again…
“Tomorrow will be 35 years since @skytv first hit the airwaves.
“My suit/tie combo MUST come back into fashion soon, surely? See you from 7am @skynews.”
Fans of the star took to her comments section and showered her with praise and compliments.
One user wrote: “It’s always good to see that picture, Kay.”
A second person hailed: “I think you look amazing anyhow, and what about ‘girl power’ among all those geezers.”
While a third added: “Wonderful pic. Congratulations!”
A fourth then followed up with: “You’re my (and the nation’s!) hero!!! A total national treasure! And that song with that pic brought a lump to my throat! Love you, Kay Burley”.
While someone else chipped in: “Wear it again and it will become the hottest thing… At least it will go viral immediately.”
Kay later posted the same picture on her Instagram story.
The picture posted by Kay dates back to 1989, when Sky TV launched the UK’s first satellite TV service, with only four channels, which included Sky News and Europe’s first 24-hour news station.
Over the years, SkyTV has evolved and now has thousands of channels and a streaming service.
And Kay, who started at the same time as the launching of the station, has witnessed the good, bad and challenging times Sky TV has faced.
But most recently, Sky Breakfast fans were left seriously distracted during Kay‘s new-look show.
The journalist is leading a brand new programme on the channel alongside co-hosts former BBC News star Gareth Barlow and Mhari Aurora.
Despite only being in its first week, viewers have quickly called out several problems with Kay’s new morning offering.
