This season will see a panicked writer begging for the help of private detective Robin Ellacott.

Edie Ledwell co-created popular cartoon The Ink Black Heart with her boyfriend, but is now being relentlessly bullied online by someone only known as Anomie.

Robin turns her away, explaining that the company does not specialise in cyber investigations.

However, the detective is left shocked when she hears the news that Edie was tasered and murdered just a few days later.

Her boyfriend was also stabbed, but survived the attack.

Robin convinces business partner Cormoran Strike to help her try and track down Anomie's real identity - but neither of them realise what they're getting themselves into.

TV stars Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger are returning for the sixth time in the roles of the central characters, Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott.

Fans flocked to social media to share their excitement for the upcoming season's release.

One person gushed: "Really excited to see how this one translates to the screen. I think it's my favourite of the books so far, but the format requires some creativity to work on screen."

Another added: "Brilliant news, we’ve just started rewatching the series again on iPlayer."

A third raved: "If I could like this a million times I would."

A fourth exclaimed: "YABADABADOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I can't wait!"

The BBC have not announced a release date yet, but the previous five seasons are currently available to stream on iPlayer.
