The Masked Singer crowns Piranha its winner – and star is revealed to be massive 00s singer
Fans were left shocked at who was really hiding behind the mask
PIRANHA has been crowned as the winner of The Masked Singer.
After eight-nail biting instalments on ITV, the last three star names have finally been revealed to viewers at home.
Last week, singers Tiffany Darwish and Keala Settle were revealed to be Eiffel Tower and Air Fryer respectively in a double elimination.
In the final all three of the remaining characters were unmasked as they went head-to-head performing two songs each in front of the judges.
For their second tracks, they were joined up on stage with a duet partner as Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and chat show host Jonathan Ross were left guessing.
Third place character Cricket was unmasked as Lemar Obika before the two remaining celebs faced off in the final showdown.
After another round of voting Piranha was crowned the winner of this year’s series, with Bigfoot just losing out.
Bigfoot was revealed to be The Last Leg star Alex Brooker as fans flooded social media after they guessed correctly.
Piranha was then revealed as noughties singer Danny Jones during the big reveal.
The 37-year-old told host Joel Dommett: “I’ve had the most amazing time, I can escape behind here and just be Piranha and sing these songs.
“I’ve learnt so much, I’m able to sing higher now just from being on this show. I am so happy, thank you!”
Reacting to the win, one fan said: “Danny Jones……What an amazing voice, congratulations what a worthy winner.”
A second wrote: “Danny Jones solo album as soon as possible please. A voice like that and it was hidden in McFly’s music (which I still loved obviously). Insane.”
“Wow! Danny Jones! Didn’t realise how good he is,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “Anyone that has seen Mcfly live was in no doubt the moment Piranha opened his mouth that it was Danny Jones.”
For weeks fans of The Masked Singer have been guessing the identities of the stars hiding inside the huge costumes.
Most people have thought that McFly‘s Danny Jones was behind the fishy character of Piranha.
They noted that he has done the “McFly jump” at the end of his showstopping performances.
Other names that were previously mentioned included Shayne Ward, and former One Direction stars Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan.
Meanwhile, some viewers previously thought that Cricket was Simon Webbe.
One clue that raised intense speculation included the words ‘all rise’ – which of course matches with Blue’s 2001 smash-hit.
Others names to be touted include Reggie Yates, Anthony Joshua and even fellow noughties star Lemar.
This was as viewers previously ‘unmasked’ Bigfoot as TV presenter Alex Brooker.
One clue which was pointed out by fans, is the fact that the costume has a bandage on the left leg and the character is using a crutch.
Alex was born with hand and arm deformities and was famous for presenting the Channel 4 panel show The Last Leg.
