Coronation Street actor Bill Roache seen for first time since after it was revealed he owes taxman £550,000
CORONATION Street actor Bill Roache is seen for the first time since it was revealed he owes the taxman £550,000.
The Ken Barlow actor, 91, was photographed walking with a plastic bag near his home in Cheshire.
He is facing bankruptcy after failing to sell a property to clear his tax bill, which he had been given until January to repay in full.
Bill, TV’s longest serving soap star, first appeared in the ITV soap in 1960, was previously declared bankrupt in 1999.
Roache was hit with a massive £588,015.18 bill from HMRC in 2018, after a tribunal ruled he participated in “a tax-avoidance arrangement”.
But the High Court papers recently obtained by The Sun claim he has coughed up just £41,666.65 so far.
