‘Ridiculous and disrespectful!’ rage The One Show fans as huge Hollywood star joins BBC sofa with big announcement
Viewers have concerns about cult classic films getting modern Hollywood adaptations
VIEWERS have been left disgruntled after a huge Hollywood star made a big announcement on The One Show.
Jake Gyllenhaal and his co-star Daniela Melchior made an appearance on the BBC sofa last night to discuss the Road House remake they are in.
Show hosts Lauren Laverne and Anita Rani asked the actors about their role in the blockbuster, and clips from the upcoming movie were teased for the audience.
But many fans of the 1989 action film were unhappy that it is getting a reboot.
The original cult classic starred Patrick Swayze in the role of James Dalton, a pro bouncer who is hired to restore order at an infamous bar in Missouri.
He has his work cut out for him, as he is not only up against rowdy customers, but also a local ruthless crime boss who controls the town behind the scenes.
Jake Gyllenhaal is set to play Dalton in the remake, and Daniela has been cast as his love interest.
The new film has been described as more of a thriller, and Jake’s character has been given a slightly different backstory as a former UFC fighter.
Road House fans from the 80s complained that the original should have been left alone, with one saying: “The remake of Road House will not be as good as the original.”
Another hit out: “A remake of Road House? Ridiculous and disrespectful. Make new movies, you lazy, lazy people.”
A third complained: “We all know what the movie Road House is about. They’re talking like it’s a brand new movie.”
