Naga was sitting alongside regular presenting pal Charlie Stayt, 61, when her blunder about playwright William Shakespeare came to light.

She was discussing a BBC Breakfast segment about twist on the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet, set to be presented to an audience in the New Forrest.

Priestland's School will instead represent the warring Montague and Capulet families in the 1597 play with rival football teams.

The duo brought weather reporter Helen Willetts, 52, into their discussion of their favourite Shakespeare phrases.

Naga asked the forecaster: “Where for art thou Helen?” before she replied: "When we three meet again," referencing a classic Macbeth line.

Yet Naga told how her words had been called out by BBC Breakfast show boss Jonathan.

Charlie let slip the warning and said: "Now, a cautionary word here, Helen, for you. Our editor today Jonathan knows his Shakespeare.

"Straight away he told Naga off, he was listening to me, he's on it."

Naga chipped in: "He told me off. 'Where for art thou Romeo?' just as a lesson from Jonathan. 'Where for' is actually 'Why?' not 'Where are you?'

";So this is when Juliet is asking why she is in love with Romeo.

BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty brutally shuts down Carol Kirkwood after blunder - as fans dub her 'silent assassin'

Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?

The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:

Jon Kay - Since 2022

Sally Nugent - Since 2021

Charlie Stayt - Since 2006

Naga Munchetty - Since 2014

Carol Kirkwood - Since 1997

"There's your Shakespearean lesson for the morning."

Charlie then picked up on the banter and said: "And now they're [show bosses] saying 'Move on, just get on with it'."

Naga, looking more down beat, retorted: "Yes they say move on all the time, let's keep going."

It came after show fans confessed they were left "crying with laughter" at Naga's apparent outfit blunder.

Some fans called out the lengthy hemline on her hot pink trousers, which swept over her shoes leaving a huge trip hazard.

She also came under fire after clapping back at another weather presenter, Carol Kirkwood, during the daily news show.

Fans then cheekily dubbed Naga a "silent assassin" after she failed to empathise with the Scot when she admitted she wasn't sure what day it is.
