EMMERDALE’S Ruby Fox-Miligan has revealed her tragic family secret in tonight’s episode.
The absolute riot of a character - who is played by actress Beth Cordingly in the ITV soap - arrived in the village earlier this year to join her estranged husband Caleb.
However her time there has not gone easily with her clashing with the Dingles and teaming up with Kim Tate in a plot to force Caleb to leave the village with her.
Viewers have watched recently as Ruby has proved devoted - if a little obsessed - with Caleb and tonight it revealed a dark family secret that explains why.
As the couple sat down for a meal with son Nicky, they gave away bits of their history.
“You know when I first met your dad, I definitely wasn’t much of a cook,” Ruby said.

Caleb added: “I did all the cooking, and the cleaning and the ironing. Your mum was posh. Very posh.”
“I’m still very posh,” she joked as Nicky asked more about her family.
“Your mum’s family didn’t exactly warm to me, they thought she could do better,” Caleb said.
“They loved their daughter, and wanted what’s best for her. I didn’t blame them.”

Revealing that she lost her entire posh family by choosing him, Ruby tried to minimise it, saying: “Things were said and we stopped talking. Happens more than you think.”
Appearing serious for a second, Caleb told her: “Have I ever actually said thank you? You gave up a lot for me.”
“Yeah, I did,” Ruby replied.
