NICK Grimshaw has hit back at fans branding E4 show Josh Must Win as "fake".
The programme invites a team of celebrities to secretly manipulate a TV series so that the geeky underdog wins.
The Underdog: Josh Must Win unites a host of celebrities tasked with manipulating a popularity contest filled with influencers and beauty queens to ensure that Josh becomes the unlikely champion.
Radio star Nick, ex-Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, former Towie's Pete Wicks and Love Island's Amber Gill are tasked with that job.
But some fans were left unconvinced by the other contestants and thought they were a plant.
One viewer wrote: "I’m hooked already!! Did question if the other contestants are real but, sadly, I think they really are!!"

A second posted: "Anyone else think Josh is an actor and it will revealed to everyone including the panel at the end?"
A third echoed: "I'm really confused by #joshmustwin, isn't "Josh" an actor?! I swear I've seen him in stuff before."
But Nick cleared things up and admitted he also originally thought the contestants were a set-up in a bid to trick the celeb panelist.
He told viewers on his X platform: "I thought they were actors at first and thought Channel 4 were tricking us. It was a lot."

Josh, 23, currently lives with his parents and four chocolate Labradors in Bournemouth.
The first episode aired on Monday night, but some viewers were convinced show bosses had actually placed a soap star in the fake house with the other contestants.
With his dark curly hair and glasses, Josh reminded many of them of Coronation Street actor Alex Bain, who plays Simon Barlow.
The 22-year-old is set to leave the ITV soap very soon, and viewers joked he had already moved on to a new TV project.
Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one wrote: "Simon Barlow has found a new show to go on #JoshMustWin #TheUnderdog".
Another added: "SIMON BARLOW".
Meanwhile a third shared side by side pictures of Josh and Alex and wrote: "Can't unsee it."
