Tom brought home a dog called Piper from the vets after their owner died
Viewers fear Tom will use Piper in a terrible way as part of his push to control Belle

In recent scenes, he cruelly destroyed her mum Lisa Dingle's ashes and tried to stop her getting a new job at Take a Vow.

During Wednesday's episode, Belle was at home when Tom arrived with an adorable dog called Piper under his arm.

Tom explained how Piper's elderly owner had died, and their daughter had wanted to put Piper down.

Belle was horrified and went to get the pup some water before asking Tom what he planned to do with the pooch.

Tom replied: "Why, I thought that was obvious."

In a later scene, Tom made it clear he wanted to keep Piper but Belle insisted they were both too busy with their jobs to give the dog the attention it needed.

But regarding her job at Take a Vow, Tom said: "I earn enough for us both, for all three of us.

"I got you Piper to cheer you up, come on how can you say no to this face?";

But Belle was adamant and Tom looked far from impressed.

However, Emmerdale fans were relieved the dog might get rehomed elsewhere, as they feared what the vet might do to Piper as part of his manipulation and controlling behaviour of Belle.
