Beyond Paradise fans shocked as stars of hit 80s show reunite after 36 years on BBC drama
A Very Peculiar Practice ran for two series in 1986 and 1988
BBC Beyond Paradise fans lost it when Kris Marshall reunited with Death in Paradise star.
Humphrey Goodman – portrayed by Kris Marshall – was back on screens on Friday night with the second instalment of Beyond Paradise.
Humphrey is famous for playing a detective on the sunny island of Saint Marie in Death in Paradise.
And he recently spoke to character Arnold Finch, played by Peter Davison.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Peter showed up in last night’s episode as a man going on a date with Martha’s mum Anne (Barbara Flynn).
Fans were delighted to see the familiar face, as one said: “I was hoping that Peter Davison would have a scene with Barbara Flynn as soon as he was announced as a guest star.
“Peter Davison and Barbara Flynn together again!”
Another wrote: “I do love when we get characters from the past popping back up.”
A third added: “#BeyondParadise Peter Davison ‘dating’ Barbara Flynn? Oh come on! That can’t be a casting coincidence.”
The stars both appeared in BBC drama A Very Peculiar Practice, set in the health centre of a British university and ran for two series in 1986 and 1988.
The series was a comedy with surreal elements about an idealistic young doctor, Stephen Daker (Peter Davison), who joined a university medical centre staffed by an ill-assorted group of doctors.
This included the bisexual, ultra-feminist Rose Marie (Barbara Flynn), scheming to advance her career.
It was written by Andrew Davies and was inspired by his experiences as a lecturer at the University of Warwick.
And it has been interpreted as a commentary on contemporary trends in education.
Beyond Paradise continues on Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
