MASTERCHEF fans have called out a format change in the new series as they slammed the BBC for 'putting the whole show in a blender'.
The BBC cooking show returned last night for a new series with John Torode and Gregg Wallace once again judging the new batch of amateur cooks.
Six aspiring chefs entered the Masterchef kitchen, but John and Gregg revealed their first challenge would be different to previous years.
Called 'Basic to Brilliant', the cooks had to create something special from a humble ingredient.
One cook chose onions, while another opted for cous cous, and a third selected chocolate to make a dessert dish.
However, some Masterchef fans were not impressed by the change.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one wrote: "this format change is like they've put the whole show in a blender and are trying to piece it back together again."
Another added: "Looks like they have changed the format again this series, not having everyone watching each other and no angry floor manager."
A third tweeted: "Oh, they’ve changed the first round on #MasterChefUK."
After the first challenge, two cooks were immediately chosen to receive their Masterchef aprons, while the remaining four had to cook again.

Then, another two were sent home, leaving four to compete for three places in the quarter finals.
But the final challenge saw a couple of contestants come unstuck as they under cooked their meat.
While Brin's lamb was too pink for the panel of former contestants sampling the food, Matt's was even worse.
The butcher from Blackpool opted for a different cut of lamb to use on his main course, but Gregg immediately questioned how pink it was as he served it up.
Gregg said: "It looks very rare to me, is that right?"
Matt, who boasted he was the BBQ master, replied: "Yeah, if you over cook this, it will be super dry."
“That lamb is still bleating.”

John later moaned: “The lamb was not cooked, it was raw.”
Those watching at home were equally as horrified, with one person commenting: “That lamb was still in the womb.”
A second said: “That lamb is still bleating.”

It came as no surprise to viewers when Matt was the one who was sent home at the end of the episode.
Masterchef continues Wednesday, April 3 at 9pm on BBC One, with this week's episodes already available on BBC iPlayer.
