GMB host making ITV comeback after break from show & fans demanding his return – as Kate Garraway replaces Susanna Reid
IT will be their first show in three weeks after an unexpected break
A GOOD Morning Britain anchor is making their show return after three weeks off-screen, The Sun can reveal.
We can exclusively confirm the 57-year-old will take their place alongside ITV favourite Kate Garraway, 56 – who is stepping up to take on extra presenting slots in Susanna Reid’s absence next week.
Susanna Reid, 53 – who fronts Good Morning Britain from Monday to Thursday, with Kate as newsreader – revealed her two week break last month and, after she exited, Ed Balls will now return.
He often fronts the weekday show with the ex BBC Breakfast host but their reunion will have to wait a little longer.
Ex Labour politician Ed is a fan-favourite on the show and often alternates with Richard Madeley, 67, as Susanna’s presenting partner.
Fans had been demanding the return of the former Shadow Chancellor after he was last seen on GMB in mid-March.
During his three weeks off one fan took to X to write: “Richard is tad annoying please bring Ed Balls back!”
Ed juggles his presenting duties with recording his podcast, Political Currency, with former Chancellor George Osborne.
All change
Last week, Susanna urged fans not to “panic” as she announced her GMB show break.
As the March 28 episode of the ITV daytime show came to a close, she told fans: “Right I am off for Easter – please don’t panic!
“I will be back in a couple of weeks.”
This week, she has been substituted with Charlotte Hawkins, 48, with Richard remaining on-screen from Monday to Thursday.
This has meant Kate has been absent today, Thursday, and will not be on-screen tomorrow, Friday either.
Instead, she will front the “majority” of shows alongside Ed next week, an ITV spokesperson confirmed.
Friday feeling
Meanwhile, we were first to report how an ITV fan-favourite will return for the second week running.
The Sun exclusively told how Robert Rinder will fill the presenting hotseat on Friday amid Adil Ray‘s Easter break.
The Citizen Khan creator, 49, is taking a well-deserved two weeks off from the show.

TV presenter Rob, famed for show Judge Rinder, will take his place in the studio and front GMB with Charlotte.
Announcing his temporary break from the show, Adil wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Thanks for watching @gmb. “Off for Fridays over the Easter break.
“Back with you from April 12 peeps, and for quite a few Fridays until September.”
He added: “FriRays they’re all calling it. Well one person did. That’ll do.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am to 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
