A CORONATION Street star has confirmed a Weatherfield family is expanding as the soap casts their teenage daughter in a permanent role.
The ITV soap has long standing families such as the Platts and the McDonalds, as well as newer ones like the Baileys.
One of the most recent additions to the Cobbles is DS Swain, played by Vicky Myers.
The character had previously appeared as a guest on the show but it was confirmed last month that Vicky had become a permanent member of the cast.
Now, the actress has revealed her on-screen family is expanding, telling TV Times: "[Swain is] a single mum and a lot of people can relate to that.
" We're in the process of casting her 16-year-old daughter, and I think it's fair to say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree – she's feisty, opinionated and educated.

"It's going to be interesting watching Swain juggling her professional and personal lives.
"Also, we know she's gay, so is there another mother and, if so, is she involved?"
DS Swain had first appeared in Coronation Street in 2021 when she investigated the assault on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin.
She is currently in charge of the investigation into the disappearance of Lauren Bolton, but has angered Corrie fans by arresting and charging Roy Cropper for her murder.

When it was announced that she would be a permanent cast member last month, Vicky said: "We're only just scratching the surface with Swain.
"When I got the call that this was happening, it was very much that she was the itch that I needed to scratch. I want to know more about her.
"I did my homework initially a couple of years ago and I wanted to build this character that portrays and embodies everything about the North and about Weatherfield, almost in a matriarchal sense.
"Swain wants to continue going on in the career that she's chosen, but she's also a single working mum and there's the stresses and pressures that creates."
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
