Gogglebox star George Gilbey will be laid to rest at end of April as grieving family receive over £6k from well-wishers
Donations for the stars family have doubled in two days
GOGGLEBOX favourite George Gilbey will be laid to rest at the end of the month after well-wishers stepped in to support his grieving family.
More than £6,000 was donated to help his mum, co-star Linda McGarry, 74, pay for his send-off.
Any cash left over from the funeral will go to help bring up George’s daughter Amelie, seven.
The reality star will be buried near his home in Clacton, Essex.
A source said: “Linda did not expect to have to be burying her son.
“She’s been really buoyed by the fact people have donated so much.
“It will help give George the send-off he deserves.”
Electrician George, 40, died on March 27 after falling through a skylight on the roof of warehouse where he was working in Shoebury.
A flood of donations has sent the fund soaring from less than £3,000 to £6,041 in the last two days.
One well-wisher who contributed said: “God bless George and big love to Linda and family.”
And another added: “So sorry for your loss and thoughts with you all at this sad time.”
Essex Police are investigating.
