Netflix fans hooked on ‘mind-blowing and harrowing’ new miniseries with perfect Rotten Tomatoes score
NETFLIX fans are absolutely hooked on the streamer’s new miniseries, which they have dubbed “a true masterpiece.”
The British series debuted on the platform on 11 April and boasts a 100% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Baby Reindeer is about a regular man named Donny (Richard Gadd), who works in a pub. His life takes a shocking experience when he offers a woman named Martha (Jessica Gunning) a free cup of tea.
Baby Reindeer is based on a true story
The tense miniseries based on a play by Scottish comedian Richard Gadd. Both detail his real-life experience of having a female stalker who showed up at his house and place of work, while sending his thousands of emails and voicemails.
Ultimately, it became a harassment case that spanned over five years.
Richard wanted to drive home how terrifying this was for him in the Netflix series.

“When a man gets stalked, it can be portrayed in films and television as a sexy thing. Like a femme fatale who gradually becomes more sinister,” he explained to .
He continued: “It doesn’t carry as much threat of physical violence, is less common and can be trivialised.
“I was physically scared because I didn’t know how far she could take it. She could have a knife, but I did think how terrifying it would be if she was a tall, scary man.”
Although Richard reported her to the police, they failed to take action against the woman because she was not “obviously” threatening.
Based on Richard’s real-life experience, Martha becomes obsessed with actor-writer Donny after he shows her kindness by offering her a free cup of tea at the pub.
Donny initially appreciates the attention he’s getting from Martha and flirts with her. However, Martha soon crosses the boundary from friend to stalker, which brings to light Donny’s past trauma of sexual abuse.
The real-life Martha is now required by law not to approach Gadd or any of his friends or family.
