‘Shame on you’ say Coronation Street fans who slam Katie McGlynn for ‘cruel’ instagram post
The hobby has proven massively controversial
CORONATION Street star Katie McGlynn has angered followers after going fishing with boyfriend, Ricky Rayment.
The star, who played Sinead Tinker on the ITV soap, was taken to Crowsheath Fishery lakes in Billericay, Essex, for a unique date.
Ricky, who previously starred in Towie, runs fishing clothing company Filthy Hooker, and is a keen fisherman himself.
Showing off her catch on Instagram, Katie beamed as she clutched a huge fish with both her hands.
“My second biggest catch since reeling Ricky in,” she wrote. “[Ricky Rayment] finally took me for my first fishing trip @crowsheathlakes.”
“Doesn’t smell as bad at it looks… trust me,” she added after posting the photos on her Insta Stories as well. “And that’s Ricky’s jumper JUST in case.”
Proud Ricky wrote alongside it: “Well done! You was a natural fisherthem!”
However, other people were mad at the practice, saying she should “be ashamed” for hooking fish.
“Poor fish, taken from their natural habitat with a hook ripped through their mouth because some selfish humans thinks it’s fun,” one wrote. “Imagine how it feels to drown. That how it feels for the fish when you take them out of water. Shame on you.”
Another added: “Cruel, how would you like to have a hook through your mouth and dragged around?” while a third said, “How awful.”
A fourth fan suggested she chuck him back in the water.
However, many were praising her for managing to catch such a massive fish.
“Yes, more women fishing!,” one declared, while a second. “Nice Mirror Carp there Katie keep up the good work.”
“Who knew fishing looked so guuurdddd,” said a third.
The pair’s trip out comes just days after the pair celebrated being together for six months.
The couple only confirmed their romance on Valentine’s Day, after secretly dating for four months as they got to know each other better.
The Sun understands that the cute couple met at the start of October while on holiday and have been inseparable since.
