Asan N'jie, played the role of Ellis Chapman, Billy Fletcher's brother and Marlon Dingle's step-son, on the programme for 14 months between 2018 and 2019.

Five years on from his soap sacking, he has landed himself a role in Pierce Brosnan's latest movie, Giant, a movie about the rise of boxer 'Prince' Naseem Hamed.

James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has gone undercover as Brendan Ingle - the Irish-born boxing trainer that took 'Prince' Naseem to stardom.

29-year-old Asan will be one of his co-stars after he managed to bag himself a part in the upcoming movie.

Details surrounding Asan's character have so far been kept under wraps but it marks his biggest career move to date after his TV sacking.

He has even begun to tease his appearance by sharing a cryptic post on X - formerly Twitter - of the show's IMDb page alongside a film camera emoji.

In 2019, Asan was immediately axed from the soap after issuing a chilling "knife" threat to Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas backstage at a top industry awards ceremony.

The then-career crushing moment saw him square up to Jamie at London's Park Lane Hilton Hotel.

Disturbing footage at the time showed a then 25-year-old Asan being restrained by security and shouting: “Do you think you are a f***ing big man, I’m going to f***ing kill you.”

He also shouted: “I’m going to f***ing knife you.”

Within 24 hours, soap chiefs confirmed that his behaviour had cost him his role on the show and he was immediately sacked and written out of the serial.

Asan will now be reunited with one of his former Emmerdale colleagues, Katherine Dow Blyton, who played the show's Harriet Finch, after The Sun revealed that she too had secured a role in the upcoming hotly-anticipated film alongside Pierce.

Earlier this week, Pierce looked unrecognisable as he was snapped filming scenes for the movie whilst in character.

While we’re used to seeing the former 007 in finely tailored suits, the 70-year-old actor has traded in the bespoke Armani for blue Adidas for his latest role.

Dressed in a tracksuit and white trainers, Pierce was seen strolling down the street amid takes.

His make-up and hair has transformed him into Ingle, complete with his signature head of hair now white and combed over, with a giant pair of glasses on.

Giant will follow the real life story of Naseem, who is of British-Yemeni descent, as he makes his way up the ranks of the boxing world to become one of the most celebrated British sports stars of all time.

The story will track him from his humble beginnings in working class Sheffield, and the unorthodox training he went through with Ingle in order to get international acclaim.

Playing out in the 80s and 90s, Naseem has to face and overcome rampant Islamophobia and racism in order to dominate in the ring.

Amir Al-Masry, who was most recently seen as a young Muhammed Al-Fayed in The Crown, will take on the role of Naseem, with Gangs Of London writer Rowan Athale writing and directing the sports drama.

Ingle, who died in 2018, trained four world champions during his time as a trainer -  Johnny Nelson, Naseem Hamed, Junior Witter, and Kell Brook.
