CORONATION Street viewers reckon they’ve made a key breakthrough in the ongoing Lauren Bolton mystery.
The troubled teenager, played by Cait Fitton, has been missing since abruptly leaving the cobbles earlier this year.
Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap offered up another Lauren-focused flashback.
Concern for Lauren’s welfare began when friend Bobby (played by Jack Carroll) found her flat unlocked and Lauren herself was nowhere to be found.
Recent episodes have seen Weatherfield resident Roy Cropper (played by David Neilson) named as number one suspect, having been arrested and charged.
Roy found himself under the spotlight after innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which ‘proved’ his guilt to some.

Meanwhile, viewers never actually saw Lauren leave and it appears Roy was the only person whom Lauren confided her plans to.
In Monday’s episode, Roy had a flashback of Lauren and Max Turner (played by Paddy Bever) approaching the café counter although he couldn’t recall why their conversation was significant.
Before Roy could crack the mystery, he collapsed in his prison cell and was rushed to hospital after weeks of stress caught up to him.
Roy started writing down significant moments, causing him to remember the interaction was Max grilling Lauren about her new boyfriend while Lauren held an expensive gold necklace.

Fans are now convinced the revelation proves Joel Deering (played by Calum Lill) is the mystery boyfriend, citing a ‘forgotten’ storyline.
It follows Joel’s love interest Dee Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) finding a jewellers receipt for a lot of money which fell from his wallet earlier this year.
At the time, he claimed he’d bought himself some cufflinks.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), one viewer wrote: “My guess is the jewellery receipt that Dee Dee found at Christmas will turn out to be Lauren’s necklace, well that’s what I think anyway.”
