CAPITAL radio presenter Jordan North has been forced to cancel a gig at the eleventh hour after falling sick just weeks into his new job.

The 34-year-old was supposed to be performing at the Young Farmers DIY AGM in Blackpool tonight - but has had to pull out last minute.

Jordan took to his Instagram to share the devastating news.

He said: "So sorry to all the young farmers at Blackpool tonight but I've had to cancel my DJ set.

"I hate cancelling gigs but I'm in bed with a suspected bout of tonsillitis and it's absolutely floored me."

In the next story he posted a selfie of himself laying in bed.

He added: "What a way to spend a bank holiday!

"Was proper looking forward to that gig too! So sorry."

Jordan joined Capital Breakfast last month after 10 years with the Beeb.

Back in February it was revealed that Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing would replace Jordan on Radio 1 from 4 March.

Roman Kemp also revealed that he was leaving Capital Breakfast the same month, and later it was confirmed that Jordan would be taking over.

In an exclusive chat with The Sun, Jordan told us why he decided to quit his old job.

“I wasn’t looking to leave but then this opportunity came up and you don’t turn Capital down,” Jordan admitted.

“I know that sounds corny but it’s a massive breakfast show. I told three people, because I had to keep it quiet, and they all said, ‘Go for it’.”

Appearing on Capital on February 21, North said: “I am beyond excited to be joining Global and to wake up the nation every morning on Capital.

"I can’t wait to start working with the amazing team here and get stuck in, to create the most fun and entertaining breakfast show.

"Getting to host Capital Breakfast has always been a dream of mine and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that I simply couldn’t turn down.”

On February 16, it was revealed that the radio star was signing a big money deal to join the station.

A source told us: “Jordan is moving to Capital FM to replace Roman and he could not be more excited.

“It is absolutely huge for him and although it’s hard to leave the BBC he is excited to get started on Capital.

“Jordan’s decision has been a hard pill to swallow for the BBC but there was nothing they could do to change his mind."

Sharing an album of throwback snaps of his time at the station, Jordan he wrote: "Hello everyone.

"I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my wonderful colleagues / talented producers at Radio 1 who many I consider to be friends for life and will miss greatly, you've all reached out to me over the past 24 hours and it really has meant a lot.

"To my amazing fellow presenters I wish I could thank you all personally, I've loved working with you it's been an absolute blast!

"Big love to Katie Thisleton, Greg James, Arielle Free, Ricky, Melvin & Charlie, Dean & Vicky, Clara Amfo, Matt & Molly, Scott Mills, Grimmy, all the rest of you fantastic lot, and of course my partner in crime Vick Hope…I'll miss being on air with you every day.

"MOST IMPORTANTLY the biggest of thank yous to the fantastic listeners who have been really generous and always made me feel welcome, your kind words & messages have been so lovely, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

"I'll be back soon, and can't wait to see you all again."
