NETFLIX has announced that production for season two of the hit series Wednesday has kicked off with the arrival of a host of British actors.
Last year, following the successful run of season one, which featured Jenna Ortega in the leading role, the streamer quickly commissioned a second series.
Since it was released Wednesday has become the most popular English TV series on Netflix, with 252.10million views across season one.
The series spent 20 weeks in the Global Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 93 countries.
The show is a supernatural-infused mystery that charts Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.
Now it's back, with celebrated actress and Fool Me Once star Joanna Lumley starring in the new series alongside Christopher Lloyd (Addams Family, Back to the Future), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld, Crash), Frances O’Connor (The Missing, The Twelve), Haley Joel Osment (The Kominsky Method, Somebody I Used to Know), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries, Scream) and Joonas Suotamo.

Bloomberg reported last year that Netflix planned to bring to screens the lives of the different family members in the teen drama, starting with a solo season for former Saturday Night Live star Fred Armisen's character, the loveable but kooky uncle Fester.
According to the news outlet, a Fester spin-off is in the very early stages of discussion, with talent and storyline still yet to be determined.
Therefore, such a series might not make it past the development stages.
Co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough told at the time of the announcement: “We can't wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore.”
Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
