BBC Breakfast was covering the news that Ofcom are set to unveil new safety measures for online browsing.

Jon, 54, and Sally, 52, were joined by 12 parents live in the studio whose children's tragic deaths were all linked to social media.

During the show they heard from each parent as they spoke about their child and the impact their passing has had.

They're part of a group of families who have wrote to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer saying how the new Ofcom guidelines don't go far enough.

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

  • CALM, , 0800 585 858
  • Heads Together,
  • HUMEN
  • Mind, , 0300 123 3393
  • Papyrus,, 0800 068 41 41
  • Samaritans,, 116 123

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, Sally had announced: "From 8 - we are handing our programme over to the parents of children whose deaths were linked to social media.

"They will be putting questions to the boss of Ofcom and Michelle Donelan MP. To try and find ways to keep children safe online."

BBC Breakfast star pens emotional goodbye to viewers live on air as beloved show is axed after 30 years

Meanwhile, yesterday BBC Breakfast viewers were left so fuming that host Jon was forced to issue an apology just minutes into the programme.

Jon revealed 'hundreds and hundreds' of emails had come in after a segment earlier in the broadcast.

The discussion had focused on North Yorkshire council’s decision to not use apostrophes on street signs, which left viewers writing in.

Jon then revealed: "Sorry, there's no room in the inbox Nina. We're filled with punctuation problems."

Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?

The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:

Jon Kay - Since 2022

Sally Nugent - Since 2021
