BAFTA TV Award viewers were left furious tonight as Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan won the award for comedy entertainment.

The duo – who are hosting the show for the second year running – looked bashful as they made their way back into the centre of the stage to pick up their gong for Rob And Romesh VS.

Those watching at home have expressed their upset, with some branding it a fix that the pair had won.

One person raged: Rob & Romesh win the comedy award. Is this a joke? It's so fixed and wooden. Comedy is supposed to be FUNNY!”

A second wrote: “The abysmal rob and romesh winning? what in the riggamorris is going on here then? the two most unfunny men the world has ever seen.”

Jesus, not only are the #BAFTATVAwards scraping the barrel with their presenters, they’ve only gone and given them an award. Rob & Romesh are as funny as toothache,” mocked another.

During their acceptance speech the pair joked that their production team was the slowest to depart the stage after accepting the prize with them, despite the hosts' instructions during their opening monologue that all winners should keep their speeches brief.

The pair had kicked off the ceremony by issuing stern instructions to the star-studded audience.

Rob said: "We are back for a second year as hosts. There were a few mistakes made last year so if you win, we love a good acceptance speech - but keep it tight."

Romest added: "Actually don't say anything at all."

During their monologue they poked fun at the economy after Liz Truss's spell as prime minister, NHS waiting times and Russian President Vladimir Putin as they hosted the Bafta TV awards.

They even took a swipe at Bradley Walsh’s son Barney during their monologue.

They mocked: “Succession, all about the next to find out the next generation to follow in his fathers footsteps. Turns out it was Barney Walsh.”

"Producers, you can come up to the stage if you must, but please stand at the back and let the famous people talk.

"To the actors, it's impossible to 'fall in love with a script' - you read it, you liked it and thought it would make you some money."

Rob continued: "If you have got to make a political point remember we have got to follow you, so keep it light."
