Eamonn Holmes reveals secret stint in hospital amid health battle
The 64-year-old has been battling chronic pain in recent years
EAMONN Holmes has revealed he spent the week in hospital as he continues to struggle with his health.
The 64-year-old kept the worrying news to himself until returning to work today.
TV presenter Eamonn has been battling chronic pain in recent years and faced numerous operations.
However, he has not disclosed the reason behind his latest stint in hospital.
Discussing a news story about claims superbugs are worse than covid-19 on GB News today, Eamonn said: “Medicine’s way of dealing with this is to say ‘oh we’ll not give you an anti-biotic or have half a headache tablet instead of a full headache tablet’.
“That’s not the right way either.
“I was in hospital the past week and the medication I was taking before I went into hospital compared to the medication I got in hospital made me keep saying, ‘just tell me, are you doing this for cost reasons, or medical reasons or does no one have a clue?’
“I kind of felt like no one had a clue at the end of the day.”
His co-host Isobel Webster said; “It’s like after childbirth they’ll only give you paracetamol and it’s like ‘are you kidding me?’ I’ve basically been through a car crash.”
The star, who underwent a double hip operation in 2016, previously revealed that he was having trouble sleeping due to the pain.
His health has been worsening since 2020 when Eamonn admitted to struggling with chronic back pain.
His condition was so severe the following year, he was rushed to hospital and told fans at the time he was suffering from “pain he’s never felt in his life”.
Eamonn said: “Starting the day by tackling the pain from the night before. On the Physio table. Chronic pain. Just can’t get it to go away.
“Sadly so many of you know the feeling. Thanks for sharing your stories. I’m determined to beat this however much it hurts.”
Eamonn was diagnosed with a dislocated pelvis and three slipped discs.
He has been undergoing extensive physical therapy and compared his journey to re-learning to walk.
