Love Island fans demand show shake up and demand huge part of ITV hit is AXED
Several new islanders have already been revealed ahead of the series launch
LOVE Island fans want a major overhaul of the show, demanding a huge part of Casa Amor is axed.
The hit dating show and its stunning presenter Maya Jama, 29, recently announced the date that the ITV show returns to our screens.
The 11th series of the popular show will be airing Monday June 3rd, but some fans have taken the announcement as an opportunity to express their frustration with how one of the show’s biggest twists works.
A number of fans have ‘grown tired’ of the way Casa Amor plays out, taking to Reddit to suggest that the second villa needs to have a different format this year.
They believe that, this time around, only new boys should be introduced at the Casa stage, scrapping the new intake of girls that usually come in too.
‘It’s become stale’
Explaining their reasoning, one fan posted: “Producers if you’re reading this, I’m just saying, the same old Casa format has become stale. The OG girls should be taken away to Casa like normal, thinking their OG boys will be cracking on in the Villa.”
They continued: “But the twist is, the OG boys don’t get new Casa girls, unbeknownst to the OG girls. This a way better alternative than us watching “wayward boy cracks on, OG girl cries but then forgives him” tired narrative.”
Over 190 fans liked the post, proving the poster is not alone in their frustration.
Casa Amor has been a show staple since it was introduced to the show in season three.
How Casa Amor works
It usually takes place halfway during the season and has been designed to test the loyalty of the budding couples in the villa.
Couples are separated and producers send either the boy contestants, or girls to Casa Amor while their partners remain in the main villa. Two batches of five to six new islanders then enter either villa.
Some have even expressed their frustrations at the quality of Casa boys added to the show, deeming the majority of the boys as ‘mediocre and not very good looking’ in comparison to the Casa girls in the villa.
One fan echoed this sentiment: “When it comes to the girls, most, if not all of them are very good looking, however with the boys, there’s usually only one or two standout boys out of the six boys.”
An array of other fan recommendations have been suggested online, including a demand for Casa Amor to be introduced in the ‘opening night of the show’ as opposed to halfway through the series.
Whether ITV will take note of these suggestions is to be seen, but several of the new series’ islanders have already been revealed.
Rugby player Ciaran Davies, London-born Patricia Field and make-up artist Samantha Kenny are amongst the 2024 hopefuls.
Love Island kicks off at 9pm on ITV1, ITV2, ITVX, STV and ITV Player on Monday June 3, 2024.
