EASTENDERS' Jake Wood took a rare snap with his lookalike son Buster as fans beg him to return to the soap.

Max Branning was last seen in Walford in February 2021 when Jake, 51, left EastEnders after 15 years of playing the lothario.

Jake has now taken to Instagram with a video of Buster playing football stitched with snaps of the pair posing together.

He captioned the post: "PROUD DAD ALERT," along with three heart emojis.

One user commented: "Outstanding. Great parenting and encouragement. You heard it here first."

Whilst another pointing out how much Buster had grown wrote: "Your son is taller than you now."

"Next, Arsenal signing I reckon," penned a third.

Over the years, Jake has dropped numerous hints that he's returning to EastEnders as Max.

The actor previously posted a snap with Scott Maslen who plays his on-screen brother Jack Branning.

Fans immediately noticed that the photo appeared to have been taken backstage at EastEnders, and one commented: "He's gotta be coming back."

Jake left the soap in to pursue other projects. The TV star has since launched a popular podcast series, starred in West End thriller 2:22: A Ghost Story and landed money spinning panto roles.

He's raked in an impressive £1m after his departure.

Figures for his Murray & Wood Company for 2022 show cash reserves of more than £200,000 and and a Corporation Tax bill of £169,151 - meaning his earnings for that year were around the £1m mark.
