Dick and Angel Strawbridge defend ‘foul-mouthed rant’ against Escape to the Chateau boss who ‘was an a**e’
DICK and Angel Strawbridge have no regrets one year after Angel's vicious row with a Channel 4 producer.
The TV couple, who shot to fame with their beloved series Escape to the Chateau, were dropped from the station last year.
It came after a leaked recording exposed Angel's behaviour towards a producer, which she branded a "f***ed up little c***".
Following the explicit rant Channel 4 bosses announced they were cutting ties with the pair.
However, they'll return in June to the channel with Dick and Angel's Secret France.
The series goes beyond their 19th century mansion as they explore the side of France that few tourists see.
more escape to the chateau
The four-part series will be their very last outing with Channel 4 as The Sun understands bosses are remaining firm on their ban.
An insider said: "Dick and Angel had filmed this series before the damming recording of Angel was leaked last year.
"Despite cutting ties with the Strawbridges, it was always the intention that execs would broadcast the show at a later date.
"Channel 4 have pulled back on publicising the series and haven't changed their position on working with Dick and Angel in the future after their internal review was completed."
One year later, Dick and Angel have defended their "foul mouthed rant" as they fume "He was an a**e!" on their podcast.
On their weekly podcast, Dick & Angel's Chat... Eau, the couple update their fans on what they are now up to with their two children, Arthur and Dorothy.
In a recent episode, the couple talked about false reports and Dick recalled: "I did read about the 'foul-mouthed rant' you had against a producer."
Angel laughed and interjected: "No, that one was completely true, but do you know what? He was an a**e! And I guess I wish I'd just done it a little bit earlier."
Dick added: "And anybody can tell one side of the story and hide behind anonymity, it's context that's important."
At the time of the controversy, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said: “Following a review, we have taken the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.”
Production company Two Rivers Media backed the news, saying: “We can confirm that we will no longer work with Dick and Angel and cannot comment further at the moment.”
Who are Dick and Angel Strawbridge?
The TV couple shot to fame in 2016 when their series Escape to the Chateau launched on Channel 4.
Running for nine series, it followed Dick and Angel as they renovated their 19th century French mansion.
They have two children together, Arthur and Dorothy, who featured in the show
It quickly became a fan-favourite show of the schedule as millions tuned in to see the couple tackle each corner of their 45-bedroom chateau.
Escape to the Chateau came to a natural end in October 2022 by mutual agreement between Channel 4 and Dick and Angel.
Despite the broadcaster and the pair working together on other projects, they were axed from the channel following a recording leaking appearing to capture Angel in a foul-mouthed exchange with a producer.
Dick and Angel's Secret France will air on Sunday 2nd June at 8pm on Channel 4.
