Although he has already made an appearance in another famous show since leaving Death in Paradise, he recently admitted that he still worries about not landing an acting role again.

On Kate Thornton's White Wine Question Time podcast, Ralf shared: "It’s not always a bed of roses.

"I genuinely believe that until you are Ryan Gosling or at that level, that underlying, nagging feeling of, ‘What if this is the last job I get?’ I’m not sure that ever goes away.

"It’s a weirdly mentally tough profession."

However, despite the challenges, he is grateful for his experiences in the television industry which he celebrates for being so unique money 'couldn't buy' them.

The Royale Family star added: "You can’t buy going on stage at the BAFTAs and getting an award, you can’t buy playing in Soccer Aid against Zinedine Zidane.

"It’s those moments where I go, ‘I am so lucky’."

After leaving Death in Paradise, Ralf told heartbroken fans: "My time on Saint Marie has come to an end – what an end!

"New adventures await Neville, and he got to sail away into the sunset with his best friend. Who knows what happens for them next!

"I want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who watched and supported the show when I arrived four and a half years ago."

His character got a happy ever after, sailing off into the sunset with love interest DS Florence Cassell.

Ralf later opened up about why he left the show, telling BBC Breakfast hosts: "You know, this last series was always going to be my last series. I spoke to the BBC and Red Planet, the production company, and we all agreed.

"If it was just a heart decision I would have wanted to do it for 20 more years.

"But just for the show and for my character Neville it just sort of felt like his story was finished and his journey deserved to be completed. He deserved a happy ending and it just felt right."
