ONE of the main hosts of BBC Breakfast has suddenly disappeared from the show.

On Monday mornings, Jon Kay and Sally Nugent usually take to the airwaves to give viewers the latest news and overnight updates.

However, Sally, 52, appeared to be missing from the flagship BBC sofa show this morning (July 8).

Instead, veteran Royal Correspondent Sarah Campbell stepped in to sit alongside Jon, 54.

She was dressed in a light jumper that was emblazoned with floral and butterfly embroidery.

The news personality looked comfortable as she sat on the iconic red couch, wearing a flowy gold skirt.

And it seems that viewers seemed pleased with the unexpected shake-up in BBC Breakfast presenters.

One fan wrote: "Good morning Jon & Sarah."

A second gushed: "Good morning Brilliant fantastic people. Have a great Monday & an amazing start to the week."

This comes after Jon took to social media where he revealed he and Sally were heading in 'different directions,' for the special rolling coverage of the UK General Election.

He was personally chosen by bosses to be one of the main faces to cover the aftermath of the huge Labour landslide victory.

He went live from a pop-up studio in the heart of Westminster outside Parliament alongside veteran news anchor, Sophie Raworth, 56.

Meanwhile, Sally was separated from her usual partner, as part of the overnight reporting team from Sunderland's key election count.

This was alongside a host of other familiar faces from the roster of the corporation's elite presenters on BBC One.

Fiona Bruce, Victoria Derbyshire, Naga Munchetty, and Jeremy Vine were among the other famous names to make up the mammoth team.

But Jon took to social media just before the popular duo parted ways as he heaped praise on his colleague and friend.

Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?

The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:

Jon Kay - Since 2022

Sally Nugent - Since 2021

Charlie Stayt - Since 2006

Naga Munchetty - Since 2014

Carol Kirkwood - Since 1997

With a beaming picture of the pair in their usual habitat of the studio, he wrote: "A quick pic with Sally today after a very busy six weeks of election campaign coverage on BBC Breakfast.

"Now we’re both heading off in different directions - to cover the results."

Jon added: "So many BBC News colleagues are working their socks off right now - right across the UK.

"Very proud to be a part of this team."
