Love Islanders who dated England footballers – from university sweethearts to player slammed for refusing to pay for cab

A HANDFUL of our favourite Love Islanders have bagged themselves a date with a footballer from the England team.

From those who were university sweethearts to a player who was slammed as ‘stingy’ for refusing to pay for a cab fare.

Let's take a look at who has dated some of the guys from the England team...

Joanna Chimonides

Joanna took part in Love Island back in 2019.

Before her split from Michael Griffiths, she dated footie star Ben Chilwell in 2017 while she was at university.

It was reported that Ben was annoyed she was going on the show, despite him dumping her a year prior to her appearance.

A source told us at the time: 'Ben has been left furious by her going on the show even though he dumped her at the end of last summer because he wanted to be single.

"They had stayed good friends until when she told him she was going on Love Island.

"She thought Ben was partying too much and he thought she was the right person at the wrong time."

Joanna took part in Love Island All Stars earlier this year.

Ben plays for Chelsea and the England team

Dani Dyer

Dani and ex Jack Fincham won the show back in 2018.

But years after they split the star started dating West Ham United and England star Jarrod Bowen.

The pair met back in 2021.

Dani, who is already mum to Santiago from a previous relationship, welcomed their twin daughters into the world in May 2023.

Molly-Mae Hague

Molly-Mae, 24, shot to fame on Love Island in 2019.

The mum of one found her man - Tommy Fury - during her stint in the villa and even placed second on the show.

The two are happy parents to Bambi, one.

But before that Molly dated Tottenham Hotspur star and England team favourite James Maddison.

Before entering the villa, Molly explained: "All the dates I’ve been on have been guys from Instagram. A few footballers have slid into my DMs.

"I’ve dated footballers, it’s all just superficial and on the surface."

She then shared an awkward story about a cab fare.

Molly added: "One time I got asked to go to this guy’s house and he said he’d pay me the money back for my taxi there.

"He was a footballer and he lived a long way away from me. When I left I told him to just transfer me a quarter of the cost, trying to be polite and he fully did!

"Even though he asked me to go and he was a Premier League footballer who could totally afford the whole cost!"

Amber Gill

Amber won Love Island with ex Greg O'Shea in 2019.

In November 2021 the beauty was linked to Manchester City and England Team favourite Jack Grealish.

Then in 2023 Amber confirmed her relationship with  Arsenal star girlfriend Jen Beattie,  making it her first public same-sex relationship since revealing she was bi-sexual.

The former couple split in December last year.

Clarisse Hulette

Clarisse was a Casa Amor bombshell during Love Island 2021.

The model dated Premier League star Alex Iwobi - but they split after four years together

A source said before her stint in the villa: “Clarisse is almost like another Molly-Mae Hague in that she already has a huge following.

“First of all she’s stunning. But she’s really gained some fans on social media – mainly Instagram. She’s also got a blog and a popular YouTube channel.

“But Clarisse isn’t just looks. She’s incredibly smart and has her own jewellery business.”
