Good Morning Britain in chaos as Ben Shephard ‘oversleeps’ after England Euros final and misses show
It came after Ben made an emotional exit from GMB back in February
GOOD Morning Britain was left in chaos after former presenter Ben Shephard was a no-show.
The broadcaster, 49 – who quit GMB earlier this year for a slot on rival ITV daytime series This Morning – was due to speak to BFF and former co-star Kate Garraway, 57, live from Berlin.
Ben had been in the German capital with pal, fellow telly presenter Chris Kamara, and ex GMB anchor Piers Morgan for England’s footballing clash against Spain.
Through Monday’s episode Kate and Richard Madeley, 68 – who hadn’t been seen on the show in weeks before making his comeback – had told how the fan-favourite presenter would be returning.
Yet as former England boss Sam Allardyce, 69, and ex England player John Terry, 43, appeared on video links from their respective homes in Bolton and Surrey, Ben was nowhere to be seen.
Before the duo gave a de-brief of England’s 2-1 loss against Spain in the Euro 2024 final, Kate took a cheeky dig.
She said of her best pal: “We were also supposed to have Ben Shephard but it seems he is taking his own personal bank holiday.
“He has not got up so far this morning, we will see if we can wake him up.”
She then joked to Sam and John: “Feel free to lampoon him both of him while you talk.
“I know you know him very well.”
CLOSE BOND
Kate previously joked how Ben was “dead” to her after leaving GMB.
Ben fought back tears on his last Good Morning Britain, which aired on February 23.
Soon after, he headed to the studio next door to front This Morning with Cat Deeley, 47.
Speaking at the Variety Awards this year Ben gushed over the differences in his new job – including cooked meals and more sleep due to the later start time.
He said: “They cook for us, we get a lie in and it’s generally more civilised.
“Do you know what, I couldn’t have done This Morning without my 10 years doing what I do with Kate and Susanna and Charlotte – and Ranvir and Laura being a part of the team as well.

“I mean, the last 10 years has flown by hasn’t it?”
Kate, who was seen shaking her head, then jokingly interjected: “He’s dead to us, he is dead to us.”
She then pushed him aside in a tongue-in-cheek moment.
Meanwhile, back in May, Ben appeared to be “snubbed” by GMB bosses after upping sticks.
It came after new promotional images were released for GMB fresh for the summer season.
