EAMONN Holmes furiously clashed with a guest on live TV yesterday.

The TV veteran raged: "Don't lecture me!" when motivational speaker Imarn Ayton, 33, objected to his suggestion that flying the Union Jack flag was "no big deal".

During the noisy debate, Imarn declared: "I understand racism more than you!" to which Eamonn fired back: "Give me a break!"

In the war of words, she suggested that Brits should re-evaluate their association with the flag due to its connection to far-right groups.

Imarn went up against another guest, historian Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, who took a different standpoint.

She became visibly annoyed when Eamonn finished with her opposition's argument and began speaking over him.

It followed reports that a Norfolk village had become divided over plans to erect a flagpole outside its village hall.

Claxton, home to fewer than 300 people, had hoped to install the flagpole as a patriotic symbol.

But the proposal sparked controversy, with some residents claiming it could deter potential new arrivals.

As things came to a boil, Eamonn, co-hosting GB News' Breakfast show with Ellie Costello, muttered to Imarn: "Can I say something? You don't have to lecture me."

To which she fired back: "No, I have to when you say things like that. 'With all due respect.'"

Eamonn replied: "Because I sit in the middle trying to see both sides of things."

Imarn asked: "But did you finish with mine? Did you finish with mine?
You finished with race. And this is a right wing channel."

Belfast-native Eamonn insisted: "I finished with everyone. I'm trying to say you did not grow up in Northern Ireland where a flag represented something political and anti to a certain religion. I did. I had to live with it."

Imarn jumped in: "And just like with black people, you're not black sir, and I understand racism more than you."

The activist, who came to prominence during the Black Lives Matter protests, describes herself as a "racism thought leader" and an "accomplished, passionate speaker who is able to command and inspire listeners".

Viewers were left furious with Imarn's comments and soon took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "Get this nutter off! It's people like her who make our country divided!"

Someone else added: "The woman needs to reflect on her words!!! I love the Union flag because I am British and proud to be so.

"This does not make me far right and I find her views rather offensive to our country!

"This is yet another attack on our country and she’s looking to create division!"

A third agreed: "All I can say after the debate on the Union flag, MY BLOOD IS BOILING."

Former TV couple Ruth and Eamonn announced their split back in May.

Eammon later moved out their home after she discovered messages between him and another mystery woman.

Over the past year, Eamonn has grown close with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 42, and they have started spending a lot of time together.

She raised a few eyebrows earlier this month when she was pictured out and about wearing huge sparkling ring.
