‘Forget car crash, it’s a tragedy,’ scream Celeb MasterChef fans as contestant serves raw food TWICE
The second celebrity was eliminated tonight
CELEBRITY MasterChef star Charlotte Crosby left fans feeling queasy when she cooked not one but TWO raw dishes.
This week a new batch of famous faces joined John Torode and Gregg Wallace in the kitchen for 19th series of the iconic cooking show.
Geordie Shore‘s Charlotte, This Morning‘s Craig Doyle, Steps pop star H and Edith Bowman battled it out to make it into the quarter-final – after radio DJ Snoochie Shy was eliminated first on Tuesday.
Charlotte and Edith teamed up for a challenge together as they attempted to produce two identical plates of lemon meringue pie with a limoncello syrup.
But things got off a bad start for Charlotte who admitted she had “never tasted or made it”.
It only went downhill when Charlotte’s meringues failed to rise.
Looking through the oven window, Charlotte said: “What the hell is going on with mine?
“Do they rise? Mine are looking pretty flat.”
The judges were not impressed with her efforts and then scolded her for serving them “raw egg white”.
Greg told Charlotte upon inspection: “Although you’ve got a nice crisp on the outside, it’s too soft on the inside.
“It’s raw egg white.”
They added: “It’s not a syrup…it’s warmed up limoncello.”
Charlotte took the criticism on board but looked deflated.
But it only went from bad to worse when the reality star took on the second challenge – as she was tasked with working a lunchtime service in a professional kitchen.
They headed to West African-inspired restaurant Akara in London.
Charlotte was responsible for making one of the most popular dishes on the menu – a take on the West African street food the restaurant is named after, akara with a side of barbecued tiger prawns.
But the intense pressure got to Charlotte and she started to crumble.
She struggled to cook the akara, with the head chef informing her that it was undercooked.
While her first set of prawns were not up to scratch after burning it.
The chef told her : “Unfortunately that’s not acceptable, can we cook two fresh ones please?”
Charlotte gasped and replied: “Yes, I’ll eat this one.”
He responded: “No, I need two now, you can eat that after.”
Although Charlotte got the hang of things later on, her performance tonight failed to bag her a spot in the next round.
She became the next celebrity to be eliminated, but not before fans had their say on her cooking skills.
One wrote: “Forget car crash, this is a tragedy.”
A second posted: “They should have sent Charlotte to cook in a Weatherspoons.”
A third said: “Greg and John would have been jumping for joy when they finally got rid of Charlotte.”
One grossed out fan asked: “How is Charlotte allowed to cook wearing nail extensions.”
