Kay Burley addresses future on Sky News after weeks off air with stand-in hosts
The star has been missing from the news channel for weeks
KAY Burley has announced her return to Sky News after weeks away from the channel.
The news anchor, 63, has been a core member of the team since the channel first launched back in 1989.
However, fears have grown she may be leaving after being replaced for the past few weeks on her daily Breakfast show.
But fans have nothing to fear with the star ready to get back to work after some much needed time off across the summer.
Kay delivered the good news on X (formerly Twitter) by posting a photo with her dog, and writing alongside it: “Thanks for all your very kind messages but summer is over and I’m back on Tuesday.
“Very much looking forward to seeing you from 7am? Do hope so xx”
Fans were delighted with the update, and shared their well-wishes in her replies.
“Welcome Back Kay, we missed you,” wrote one. “Although we did enjoy all your fab posts on your cruise, you must do more.”
“Looking forward to you being back. Hope you enjoyed your summer,” said a second.
A third joked: “Its like a proper teachers summer holiday… we got new stuff and everything ready for you..” while a fourth said: “It’s not been the same…..hope you had a good summer”
Kay has been keeping herself busy during her time off, enjoying a cruise before heading to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour at Wembley earlier this week.
In her absence, her Sky News show has undergone a huge shake-up in recent weeks.
This has included episodes with a slimmed-down presenting team to front the broadcast.
Kay and Gareth Barlow usually take to the airwaves to front the morning programme, as they deliver the latest updates to their loyal viewers.
However, both stars have been taking time off, with presenters including Wilfred Frost and Leah Boleto among those sitting in for them.
