Line of Duty star joins DC Universe in huge new TV role amid rumours of new BBC series
A LINE of Duty star has swapped the world of crimefighting for a part in the DC Universe by taking a huge new TV role - sparking rumours of a new BBC series.
Kelly MacDonald who played bent copper DCI Joanne Davidson in the police drama, has accepted a role on the HBO's Green Lantern TV show, Lanterns.
This time, Kelly is back in crime-fighting mode as she joins the DC Universe's cosmic police agency.
The eight-part series centres around two intergalactic cops, John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), who are propelled into a dark mystery that grips the American heartland on Earth.
Kelly is Sherriff Kerry - Hal's love interest.

The Scottish actress also starred in Broadwalk Empire, for which she was nominated for an Emmy in 2011, and a host of TV shows.
She also has an impressive movie career playing Diane opposite Euan McGregor in Trainspotting and Helena Ravenclaw in Harry Potter.
But she is well known by fans for her role as the bent cop in Line of Duty.

After getting together for a night out, the cast recently sparked new episode rumours.
Leading the ensemble were Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar.
The trio played Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming and Ted Hastings respectively - with fans desperate for more Line of Duty.
In a clip posted by Martin to Instagram, the actors are seen having fun on a tuk-tuk ride around London.
Meanwhile, music including Gloria Gaynor's classic "I Will Survive" can be heard playing in the background.
HBO produces Lanterns, based on DC's Green Lantern comics.
No release date has been scheduled for Lanterns.
