‘One of the worst films I’ve ever seen’ rant fans as The Rock’s new £200m Christmas movie is SLAMMED

One fan insisted it was "abysmal" viewing

FANS have been less than impressed with The Rock's brand new movie despite it costing an eye-watering £200million to make.

The flick, Red One, is a Christmas movie which sees Santa Claus kidnapped.

It forces the North Pole's head of security, played by The Rock, to team up with a bounty hunter in order to track him down.

The Rock, whose real name is Dwayne Johnson, plays Callum Drift but some viewers have already insisted it is one of the worst movies of all time.

Controversy has already swirled around the movie after it was pushed back a full year amid delays and it failed to premiere on Prime Video as planned last year.

Now having received a theatrical release, fans have had less than complimentary things to say about the big-budget movie.

Writing online, one unimpressed cinema-goer gave it a scathing review as they said: "RedOne is baffling, lifeless & genuinely dispiriting combo of trad meaning-of-Xmas tale & fantasy pic.

"Tonally it’s all over shop skipping from one ill-conceived, visually unappealing setpiece to another, & despite lengthy passages of exposition it’s rarely clear what’s going on."

Another branded it "abysmal", saying: "Soooo… #RedOne is genuinely one of the worst films I have ever seen. The visuals are atrocious, the dialogue is bland and unfunny, the usually talented cast have zero chemistry and even the action sequences fail to deliver on the entertainment scale. Abysmal stuff."

A third echoed: "It’s not so much that #RedOne is bad, it’s just a cynical piece of overly digital Hollywood content masquerading as a feel-good, 'edgy' Christmastime action flick. The cast dutifully do their jobs, but for all the supposedly creative fun on display, it feels rote and uninspired."

Before a fourth went on to add: "If you know anyone who is considering seeing #RedOne in cinemas, please get them help — they are in great pain."

So far, Dwayne has ignored any backlash to the movie and has spent time gushing about meeting fans during his press tour for the film.

He recently shared a clip of him speaking to a young fan at the premiere of the movie as they were left in tears at getting to meet the Hollywood titan.

Describing moments like that as the best "part of fame", The Rock said: "This lovely girl was tearing up as we met, she said some beautiful things to me and asked if we could take a selfie.

"I said yes but first let’s take a few deep breaths together to compose ourselves a bit - we don’t want no crazy looking selfies.

"She was the absolute sweetest thing. And to me, these kind of interactions with people will always always always be the best part of fame."

Dwayne Johnson's fortune explained

The wrester-turned movie star is worth a whole lot of money.

Dwayne Johnson's net worth has increased substantially since he began his acting career in 2001.

At the time, he had a net worth of $2M (around £3M today).

Now 21 years later, his net worth has increased to an estimated $800M (£626M).

Dwayne's initial wealth came from competing in wrestling tournaments, with him earning $1million in 1999 (around £1.5M today).

However, his bank balance is now boosted by his acting career, TV appearances, merchandise, and his newly founded tequila company.

He launched his spirit brand, Teremana tequila, in 2020 and oversaw the development of the product while it was made in Mexico.

"It took 113 distillations to get to this point," he said in his May 2021 interview on The Today Show. "Everything is handcrafted, handmade. Copper pot stills, brick ovens."
