Chasing acting jobs is exhausting, farming’s hard but it brings me peace says Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher
Kelvin has a new addition to his farm that he has no idea how to handle
STRICTLY star Kelvin Fletcher has revealed that he finds more peace working hard down on the farm than chasing acting jobs.
The former Emmerdale actor bought a 120-acre farm in the Peak District National Park in 2021 with wife Liz.
The couple have cameras following them for their ITV series, Fletcher’s Family Farm, which returns for a second series today.
And speaking with The Sun’s TV Mag, Kelvin revealed farming is easy than acting in many ways.
He said: “That’s the amazing thing about farming you’re naturally inherently present because you’re dealing with weather, or whatever you’ve got on, and I certainly don’t have it in acting.
“I’m constantly looking forward, which feels exhausting because you’re always chasing. But with farming, you’re present.
“Such a unique. Job I honestly believe its my calling.
“It’s a way of life and I’m not bothered if you’ve got five or 5000 sheep or a small veg patch or acres of produce. There’s something about being outdoors with nature. It’s a privilege. It’s what I love.”
Fletchers’ Family Farm follows the heartwarming highs and gritty lows as Kelvin and his family’s work on their beautiful patch of the Peak District.
Kelvin spoke excitedly about how the gang have been getting on since the first series aired in October 2023.
“We’ve certainly got our hands full. While we’re all another year older, Liz and I think we’re a little bit wiser too.
“With four kids in tow, our lives revolve around running the farm, and everyone has a role to play.”
In recent years acting jobs have been harder to come by for the once Emmerdale regular, who played Andy Sugden from 1996 until 2016.
Viewers have seen Kelvin pop up as characters in series like McDonald & Dodds on ITV and the BBC’s Father Brown.
Looking to his new passion, the now real life farmer, recently took to to give fans a sneak peak of the new series.
It certainly looks as though everyone is getting stuck in with Kelvin’s daughter, Marine, trying to buy her own field from her dad for a fiver.

And Kelvin revealed the family will also have their hands full with the cows they have just bought for the farm.
