Emmerdale’s Nicola Wheeler reveals close off-screen bond with co-star admitting ‘it’s like being married in real life’
EMMERDALE actress Nicola Wheeler has opened up about her close bond with her on-screen husband Jimmy King.
The ITV actress appeared on Lorraine to talk about some of the upcoming storylines in the ITV soap, as she revealed her friendship with co-star Nick Miles.
Nicola has played on-screen character Nicola King in Emmerdale since 2001, and is currently caught up in the storyline featuring her abusive nephew Tom King and his harassment of wife Belle Dingle.
Discussing her role on the ITV soap, Nicola opened up about her bond with co-star Nick Miles.
Lorraine asked: "You two in Emmerdale have been married 10 years now, is it? "
Nicola responded: "They must have been married about 14 years now."

Lorraine then added that working together for so long must have seen them get close as she added: "In real life, you two are really good mates and you'd need to be because you share so much time together.
"You must have that shorthand where you almost finish each other sentences."
Nicola agreed as she explained: "We do. We have that thing of whenever I'm learning any scenes at home, I can hear Nick when I'm learning it.
"So I know how he's going to play it, I know the pattern."

She continued: "I have the same thing with Charlotte [Bellamy], who plays Laurel.
"When you work with somebody that closely for so many years, you kind of know how they're going to play something.
"Sometimes I'm surprised but more often than not, it makes it easier because we know each others rhythms.
"It is a bit like being married in real life."
ITV viewers have watched in recent scenes as Nicola and Jimmy made a difficult decision to move out from their family home in a bid to protect their children from Tom and his evil abusive ways.
Jimmy maintains his nephew isn't an abuser, but Nicola has witnessed first hand Tom's behaviour to her son Carl Holliday.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
