Silent Witness fans spot ‘real issue’ with BBC drama as series 28 is set to kick off in weeks
SILENT Witness fans have spotted a ‘real issue’ with BBC drama just weeks before series 28 is set to kick off.
The BBC's long-running crime drama Silent Witness will return to screens in early 2025, introducing two new characters.
They will join Dr Nikki Alexander, played by Emilia Fox, and Jack Hodgson, portrayed by David Caves and their team of forensic pathologists as they help the police solve murders by examining dead bodies.
The new series will run on BBC 1 and BBC iPlayer and tell five brand new stories over ten episodes. The new episodes open with the discovery of a pensioner's body in a cave.
Viewers will also be introduced to two new team members: Paddington 2's Maggie Steed, who plays Harriet Maven, the new boss of the Lyell Centre, and The Witcher's Francesca Mills, who plays crime analyst Kit Brooks, a colleague of Jack's.
Silent Witness’ previously reached 7.4 million viewers, making it one of the UK’s most popular shows.

But fans have pointed out a problem with the long-running drama.
Jack and Nikki are usually joined by a third colleague at the Lyell Centre. For series 24 Forensic Ecologist Simone Tyler [Genesis Lynea].
But she was absent from the show after the 25th anniversary episodes and replaced with Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist Velvy [Alastair Michael].
Now it's been confirmed Kit is the newest addition to the Lyell, one fan wrote on social media: "The third team member seems to be a real issue for them. I didn't like [Simone]; it felt so narrow a field that it was useful for more than an episode or two."

"I'm actually sad that Velvy is going.
"For all I disliked Nikki's love life stories, his whole thing was interesting, and he felt like a 'whole' character who could contribute and be the cypher for the viewer through his naivety and relative lack of knowledge."
Another said: "I liked the forensics part, but the character development was getting tiresome."
A third said: " I have a small beef with the writers. Why do characters just disappear without an explanation?
"Just no explanation on what happened... love the show, but damn, it can be frustrating!!"
And a fourth added: "The inappropriate relationship between Nikki and Jack is a lawsuit waiting to happen."
