Kirstie Allsopp shares struggles of filming new series of Handmade Christmas after death of beloved father
A huge change to the show made the star emotional
KIRSTIE Allsopp has shared her struggle of filming her new series of Handmade Christmas.
Her father, Lord Charles Hindlip, 83, died in June at his home in Dorset surrounded by his loved ones.
Kirstie, 53, is still mourning the death of her beloved father when she filmed the forthcoming project.
But she was forced to go back to work as she filmed Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas for Channel 4.
However, the show featured a significant change this year as it moved locations.
The Location Location star shot scenes for the new show at the breathtaking Dumfries House in Scotland.
This beautiful country house, which was bought for the nation by King Charles III, means a lot to Love It or List It presenter.
She admitted that her father had a deep connection to the house, which made filming emotional to her.
“My dad died in June, and he was a huge fan of the King and knew the history of Dumfries House,” she explained.
“It was very hard to be there and not be able to ring him up and ask him about the furniture, all of that kind of stuff,” she says.
“I was staying at the hotel at Dumfries House and the decor was done by Annabel Elliot, who’s the Queen’s sister, and she was a great friend of my dad.
“It was really a joy and a privilege to stay there – and I did think about him a lot in that place. It’s just such a magical setting.”
Her father made sure that she was very well looked after following his passing.
He left an estate worth a whopping of £6,113,334, which was reduced to £6,080,843 after his bills were settled.
Although he originally planned to leave everything to his wife Fiona Lady Hindlip, she died before him.
His four children will as such share his fortune as Kirstie is set to inherit a whopping £1.5m share of her dad’s estate.
