Not only is the GB news presenter now ensconced in a new relationship with psychotherapist Katie Alexander.

But the 42-year- old was spotted with a sizeable rock on her ring finger, during their recent trip to Paris, which has prompted engagement rumours.

Now Ruth, who has been busy taking care of her elderly mother, has publicly announced that she is occupied with more important matters.

The star's mother Joan was rushed to hospital after suffering a nasty injury following a fall this week.

The 64-year-old often shares videos of her mother dancing in the kitchen while chopping vegetables, but now she revealed why she was more sombre.

She said: “No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas….she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis! She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now."

"She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon. This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well…she’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too. Put’s life and what’s important into perspective eh? Happy Christmas!”

This weekend the Sun revealed exclusive photos of Ruth’s ex Eamonn and his new partner outside Paris's Louvure museum last week, where Leonardo Da Vinci's painting masterpiece the Mona Lisa is displayed.”

Enjoying some downtime in the “city of love” Eamonn, who's been besieged with back problems, appeared hunched in his mobility chair.

Meanwhile Katie looked stylish in a black fur trimmed leather coat and silk scarf which offset the sparkle of her ring.

Indeed insiders say that Eamonn has revealed to friends that he intends to marry Katie.

A source told The Sun: “Eamonn has been talking openly about his plans to marry Katie and has made it clear he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

“They’re already living together and he knows it feels right. They have a very strong connection and get on very well.

“She has given him a real lust for life and she looks after him.”

An onlooker said: “Eamonn and his girlfriend looked very loved-up.

“She was fussing over him and he had a big smile on his face.”

Meanwhile Loose Women presenter, Ruth is preparing for her first Christmas as a single woman.

The TV star is said to have hired a £400-an-hour lawyer, Catherine Costley who was an apprentice of legal legend Fiona Shackleton, known as Steel Magnolia, who represented Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana.

A source told The Sun: “Eamonn and Ruth are still in the process of getting divorced, which has been tough for Ruth. It’ll be a hard pill to swallow to see Eamonn parading his new girlfriend around Paris with a ring, especially as he’s still wearing his wedding ring.

“Ruth’s kept her head held high and focused on work, but his public romance is still difficult.”

In September, just four months after the end of their marriage was announced, Eamonn and Katie were seen on holiday in Ibiza, as he was spotted placing his hand on her bottom.

Now it seems he has booked time off from his GB News breakfast show for this romantic getaway to Paris.

Earlier this week, Ruth, who recently jetted to Australia to visit her Loose Women pal, Jane Moore on I’m a Celebrity, made a reference to her divorce for the first time on the show.

In a discussion about wedding etiquette, panellist Mariella Frostup said: “That’s a whole other subject isn’t it? How to divorce well.”

To which Ruth replied: “Oh tell me about it,” adding, “Anyway, funnily its now time for a break,” which drew a laugh from the audience.

Her 28-year relationship and 14-year marriage to Eamonn fell apart when she found messages to another woman.

Despite sharing a £3.5 million house in Weybridge in Surrey, where Ruth currently remains,  she has said that there's no way back for the couple.

Meanwhile Eamonn has moved into another property nearby with Katie.
