JAMES Forde, best known for playing Liam Butcher in EastEnders, has gone through a remarkable transformation since his departure from the show nearly a decade ago.
Sporting a bushy beard and a new career, the former child star now leads a very different life from his days on Albert Square.
London-born James joined EastEnders at the tender age of 12 in April 2008.
He played Liam Butcher, the son of soap stalwarts Bianca Jackson and Ricky Butcher, until August 2015.
During his seven years on the show Liam was involved in several high-profile storylines - including joining a gang, being arrested, and even getting stabbed.
Liam eventually left Walford with his girlfriend Cindy Beale and her newborn daughter Beth, as they attempted to start a new life in Germany.

However, James' exit from EastEnders marked more than just a change for his character, as he decided to step away from acting altogether after leaving the soap.
James initially took up work as a builder, humorously referring to himself as “Bob the Builder” on social media.
Now he is an engineer for a satellite company, and frequently shares updates and selfies from his job sites with his 41,000 Instagram followers.
In 2021 EastEnders reintroduced the character of Liam Butcher, now played by actor Alfie Deegan.

The recasting sparked mixed reactions from fans, with some expressing disappointment at Forde’s absence.
However, James addressed the situation on Twitter, writing: "Appreciate the love people but don’t be upset.
"I chose myself to be a builder and not an actor and I am genuinely happier than ever right now. Do what works for you and be happy."
