He was fuming at the shows bosses decision, saying: "Why I get frustrated about #Beatthechasers, I get five right first game and then promptly benched for next three games. Supersub I guess.

"But fans said it was to make the competition fair for the contestants. One said: "The clue's in the show name Mark, gotta give the punters a chance. I don't think people would watch 'lose against the chasers.'"

Another agreed: "Mark, I think it is to give your opponent a chance."

A third suggested: "I think more contestants should take on a minimum of five chasers. There's always possibilities."

The Chase in huge format shake up as ITV show celebrates 15th anniversary

ITV's The Chase, hosted by Bradley Walsh, sees four contestants working together as a team to answer the questions to win the prize money.

One by one, the team tries to get as much as possible, playing against Britain's biggest quiz brains, each known as The Chaser.

: "The thing is you see that every time they add a new Chaser, we only get paid per show that we do. We don't get a salary, we get a fee per show we do.

"They are recording fewer shows because we've got so many shows in the can and then they add another Chaser and everybody's money goes down, but that said, Darragh is a lovely person. When he appeared he certainly sent the ratings up a lot."
