In a devastating post, Brooke shared a series of pictures with her Nana and explained how she had always spent New Year with her.

She wrote:  “New Year. I feel so heavy today!! Normally I would be putting up all of the good things that have happened over the year, all of the challenges I’ve overcome and the things I’m proud to say I’ve done, special memories that have been made.

“Only this year all of those highs don’t even come close to the constant feeling of pain I’ve felt since losing my Nana.”

Brooke continued: “Nana, all of my New Year Memories growing up include you, Gran Canaria your favourite place with all our favourite people.
