Jeremy Clarkson’s pub issues warning to punters after spate of thefts and star’s admission it’s been a ‘total disaster’
JEREMY Clarkson's pub has issued a warning to punters after a spate of thefts and the star's admission that the venue has been a 'total disaster'.
The Farmer's Dog opened in August last year and was immediately swamped by fans of Jeremy, 64, and his Prime Video series, Clarkson's Farm.
However, in a recent column for The Times, Jeremy revealed that while the pub has no problem getting punters through the door, it's still incredibly hard to turn a profit.
Matters are not helped by the fact numerous pub-goers are stealing the venue's branded pint glasses.
In his column, Jeremy wrote: "The theft, for example, is extraordinary. People seem to have it in their heads that if they come in for a pint they are entitled to go home with the glass in which it was served.
"Last Sunday 104 went missing. And that cost must be added to the £100 a day we spend on fuel for the generator, the £400 a week it costs to provide warmth on the terrace and the £27,000 a month we must spend on parking and traffic marshals to keep the council off our back."

Soon after his column, The Sun Online revealed how pub visitors were selling the branded pint glasses on eBay.
Now, the pub has issued a warning to punters looking to visit in the New Year.
On its official Instagram, a picture of a beer mat with Jeremy's face on it was posted.
Alongside his image were the words: "Jeremy is watching...don't steal his pint glasses!"

The caption then read: "Feel free to take our new beer mats ..but please don’t steal our Hawkstone pint glasses! Happy New Year.. #backbritishfarmingdrinkhawkstone."
While it was a warning with a cheeky spin, the importance was not lost after Jeremy shared his concerns in his column.
He wrote: "It’s galling to see how much effort is required to make so little money on the farm. It’s worse at the pub.
"The customers are coming. There’s no problem there. But turning their visits into a profit is nigh-on impossible."
Meanwhile it was revealed earlier this week that the Diddly Squat Farm Shop would be closing for two months.
