Fans have remained faithful and continued to tune in, with the latest instalment from the castle airing on Wednesday night.

However, past contestants have taken aim at producers over The Traitors' format.

Series two star Paul Gorton accused bosses of 'tampering' with the finale episode after it was revealed  those who make it to the final will no longer reveal their true identities when they leave.

Meanwhile, Ivan Brett said there needed to be bigger changes to avoid the show going 'stale'.

Uncloaked host Ed Gamble praised the award-winning format and the small changes.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "Social deduction games have been very popular with the more nerdy community which I consider myself to be part of for a long time.

"It's just amazing to see one so large with a fantastic budget and an amazing team behind it.

"But also I just think it's the sort of format that you can just keep filling up with new characters, new interesting people and everyone reacts differently to it. There's been some good tweaks to the format this series which I think have been done so well."

Addressing the need to keep the suspense and mystery alive on The Traitors, he added: "I think the key is reinventing some aspects but keeping what everyone loves the same and just the casting is so perfect."

Meanwhile, the finale date for The Traitors has been confirmed with a twist.

The finale will be shown on January 24, but at the earlier time of 8.30pm.

A longer edition of Ed Gamble's spin-off show Uncloaked immediately follows from 9.40pm to 10.25pm.

The Traitors Uncloaked is available on BBC Sounds or the visual version can be watched on BBC iPlayer.

How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?

The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.

Claudia Winkleman is the show's host, and has now hosted all three series to date.

How does it work?

It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.

The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in "the ultimate game of truth and deception".

The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.

While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).

Each night, the Traitors gather to "eliminate" one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition

Meanwhile, the traitors can be "banished" if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.

The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.

The prize sees the winner could get £120K.
