Amid strong theories that it could be Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, it was eventually confirmed to be pop music legend, Carol Decker.

Joel Dommett helped her to remove the T'Pau singer's mask as the panel were left speechless after failing to identify her.

However, that reaction did not carry though for one of the audience members.

In a rather awkward moment, a woman in the crowd was left looking perplexed as she failed to recognise who the China in Your Hand singer was.

As other members of the crowd whooped and hollered for the T'Pau frontwoman, the audience member pulled a sour face and scratched her chin as she turned to somebody beside her.

It then appeared that she said to them: "Who is it?!"

Carol lost her sing-off to Dressed Crab on the ITV show.

Speaking after her exit, Carol said: "I’ve loved it and I’m going to say, I’m gutted!

Her reveal follows the unmasking of Bake Off star Prue Leith and GMB host Kate Garraway.

T’Pau’s rise

Brit singer and songwriter Carol turned T’Pau into one of the most celebrated acts of the 80s, thanks to her distinctive voice and commanding stage presence.

The band, which she founded with guitarist Ronnie Rogers in 1986, was named after a Vulcan elder from Star Trek and became synonymous with the anthemic, catchy sounds that defined their era.

The band was formed in Shrewsbury, England, and quickly gained fans with their unique blend of pop and rock.

Their breakout single China in Your Hand became a cultural phenomenon, spending five weeks at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 1987.

The song was part of their debut album Bridge of Spies, which became a multi-platinum success.

Another timeless hit track Heart and Soul achieved global success, reaching No. 4 in the UK and becoming a top-5 hit in the United States.

The band followed up with additional chart toppers like Valentine and I Will Be with You before their popularity began to wane in the early 1990s.

Carol has kept T’Pau’s legacy alive, performing with a reformed line-up to the delight of 80s music fans.
