Adil Ray is an actor originally from Birmingham.
Initially the star did not pursue a career in the entertainment industry, earning a degree in marketing at Huddersfield University.
It was at the university however that he tried his hand at presenting on a pirate radio station, before getting a job at a small Asian radio station.
By 1997 he was the first South Asian British presenter to host a mainstream radio show after getting a job at Galaxy 105 - and he received an OBE for services to broadcasting in the 2016 birthday honours.
Ray finally ventured to the BBC when he joined BBC Asian Network in 2002 as a presenter in late-night Adil Ray Show.
His show won best radio show at UK Asian Music Awards in 2008.
Outside of acting, he is big advocate of numerous good causes such as the LGBTQ+ movement and the move to end Islamophobia.

Taking his first serious acting role in Channel 4 drama Ackley Bridge, Ray appears as local businessman Sadiq Nawaz.
