Jane has been married twice.

Her first marriage was to a man called Paul from 1986-87.

She later said: “My first husband was a lovely man. It was all my fault. I made a mistake and he deserved better.

“I got out as quickly as I could. I didn’t want to put us both through prolonged agony.”

Jane then married Danish Henrik Brixen in 1998 but was divorced by 2002.

After their split, she told the Mirror: “Henrik tried his very, very best and he was brilliant at what he did, but he didn’t know the industry.

“We’d come to a point where Henrik had made quite a few enemies and he said, ‘If I don’t leave you, you are never going to have a career.'”

She was engaged to Eddie Rothe – a former drummer from ‘60s band The Searchers – but sadly he died after a battle with lung cancer in 2021.

Speaking in 2024 about her heartbreak, Jane told : “I do shed the occasional tear and especially at new year. That’s when it hits me.

“If the two of them are looking down on me, I honestly think they wouldn’t want me to be lost in sadness wondering what to do with the rest of my life.”

But she added: “I still talk to both of them in my head.”

Jane revealed she has leaned on her best friend Sue Ravey since Eddie’s death, with her best friend moving into her  home near Wakefield in 2023.

Jane – who has appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with Sue since she moved in – said: “It helped keep the grief at bay, I tend to grieve in private.

“But you can’t always be sure when it’s going to strike. Your emotions can ambush you.”

Jane previously opened up about Eddie’s final weeks, telling the : “It wasn’t slow, because we didn’t know. He had no symptoms.

“As daft as it sounds, I’m thankful it was during Covid because I was there with him. Nobody else was.”

However, she added: “But that was the hardest thing. I had no nurses or doctors come in. I had to learn how to do it all myself.

“I had him at home as long as I could. Then I took him to the Wakefield Hospice, which is a beautiful place.”
