Mother of two

Lyn was born in 1948 and met Chris at a high school function in their home city of Sydney.

She married Chris in 1970 and the pair went on to have two children together, Shanelle and Sherryn

Chris and his twin brother Paul became professional rugby footballers and were well-known across Australia.

They appeared with their wives on the TV show Chequerboard to talk about how the twin’s close bond played a role in their lives.

Sudden disappearance

In January 1982, twelve years after getting married, Lyn disappeared without a trace.

However, her husband waited six weeks before reporting her missing.

Just two days after she disappeared, though, the family’s teenage babysitter Joanne Curtis moved in.

By 1983, Chris had filed for divorce from his missing wife and claimed that she had joined a religious commune.

A year later, he married Joanne though their marriage later collapsed.

Lyn’s body was never found, though two coronial inquests found that she had been murdered by a known person.

Justice is served

Years later, the investigative podcast The Teacher’s Pet, hosted by Hedly Thomas, investigated Lyn’s appearance.

The podcast created a renewed interest in the case

In December 2018, Chris was arrested for Lynette’s murder and was found guilty in December 2022.

Chris was also found guilty of “carnal knowledge” with a student in his class in June 2023, which resulted in an additional three-year sentence.
