Who is Jon Jenkins?

Jon Jenkins is a blood courier from Newport.

He competed in the 2018 Bake Off competition and was praised for his impressive creations.

Jon has shared he loves to bake after a hard day at work and aims to experiment with different techniques.

He revealed he loves to research new ideas to achieve something unique in his baking.

The father of four said: "The tent is far easier than my kitchen, at home I have the kids running around, after school clubs to pick up from and my wife trying to keep the kitchen clean and tidy."

Why did Jon apply to go on the Great British Bake Off?

Jon revealed he wasn't persuaded to apply for the show by friends and family unlike most of his fellow bakers, but decided himself to give it a try.

He said he went on the show "just for me really".

He added: "I’ve always loved cooking, especially baking and as a family we’ve always loved watching Bake Off.

"I bake as often as I can, several times a week, mainly in the day while my wife and children are at school as I get some peace that way."

Jon was eliminated in week seven, Vegan Week, after failing to impress with his tartlets.

After his exit he said: "My real downfall this week was the Signature, that is what finished me off, and I won’t be turning vegan soon that’s for sure.

"I didn’t think a vegetable would prove to be my Nemesis but the vegan gods got to me.

"My Showstopper cake of Only Fools eat Horses looked a bit knocked off, but it was certainly edible and Paul liked my flavours.

"As a self-confessed meat eater I have only ever cooked one vegan meal in my life - a three course vegan dinner for a family celebration and there was a lot of banter going on."

When is The Great Festive Bake Off special on Channel 4?

Presenters Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas  will return as presenters, alongside judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
